Client
Specialised Petroleum Services, provider of innovative pre-completion wellbore cleanup services to oil and gas operators.

Challenge
To communicate the value of the clean-up process, elevating it from an optional extra to a service vital to the success of drilling and completion operations. The market itself did not want value to be realised for this critical aspect of business, it was clearly enjoying the lower price point which it was forcing SPS into. Sales were declining and morale was low. Fundamentally we had to change perceptions of value - fast.

Results
By creating a conceptual market space SPS was able to become a real threat to its competitors. In August 2006 M-I Swaco acquired SPS for approximately $165 million (£89 million), at the time of exit the brand and positioning equity generated had added an impressive £14 million of value to the company's sale price.
